Prof. Asoc. Dr. Klaudio Peqini

  • 2024 Participant in the project: “Expanding capacities of the department of Physics at the University of Tirana toward its integration into CMS experiment at the LHC” (projekti është aplikuar në anglisht, kështu që edhe përshkrimi i tij është lënë në të njëjtën gjuhë). This project aims to extend the successful beginning of the scientific journey of the UT and the UPT, to CMS Collaboration - CERN. After the signing of the agreement between CERN and Albania's HEI, a milestone of the last project, we intent to expand the capacities of our institutions for further joint research in high energy physics and not only. In this work, we simulate, calibrate and measure the integrated flux of atmospheric muons using detectors. This work will be a step forward to contribute to the CMS experiment, as well as, developing and calibrating detectors for the industry.
  • 2023 Participant in the project: “Development of machine learning techniques and neural network algorithms in Physics: A step toward CERN - CMS collaboration” (projekti është aplikuar në anglisht, kështu që edhe përshkrimi i tij është lënë në të njëjtën gjuhë). Big data nowadays are the keyword in all aspects of life, including physics, too. In complex systems, particle physics, geomagnetism, etc., we have to deal with big data, their analysis and very often we have to build new algorithms and forecasting models, such as neural network algorithms or machine learning techniques. Every year the CMS Collaboration is looking for new members, but we have to train the academic staff, develop algorithms suitable for the CMS data analysis and improve the technical infrastructure as a first step toward CERN.
